Nearly 63 years after his original wedding day, 91-year-old Trevor Blaker rolled up on Saturday to his awaiting bride in a 1970 Mustang convertible.
Stunning in pink, Icella, 85, beamed with joy at the man who would be her husband again after 35 years of separation.
The story of how handwritten letters drew this couple together for the second time in their lives featured in Saturday's Bay of Plenty Times.
Surrounded by 15 family members at an Otumoetai home, the Tauranga couple became husband and wife again.
One of their three great- grandchildren in attendance at the wedding walked Mrs Blaker down the aisle, while the other two put the rings on the couple's fingers.
``It was really lovely,' their daughter, Kaye Blaker, said.
``Everyone erupted into a big clap when they were presented as husband and wife again.'
Kaye said the family received numerous calls from well-wishers after the weekend article.
``Everyone was really positive about it [the marriage].'
They planned to spend their days enjoying each other's company at an Oakland Healthcare apartment.
