Arrest made after reports of man with 'weapons' at Tauranga library

Police called to reports of a man with weapons in central Tauranga have taken a person into custody.

A police communications spokesman said police were called to the Tauranga City Library carpark area at 10.40am today.

"We had a report there was a man with weapons," he said.

"Police found the man and he was taken into custody and we are taking statements."

Details of the alleged weapons were not known at this stage, the spokesman said.
