A gang of armed robbers has struck Auckland stores selling popular Apple electronic goods, days after a dawn raid on the Vodafone store at Bayfair Shopping Centre.
On April 17, three hooded thieves entered the Mt Maunganui shopping centre through a carpark entrance and left with a haul of electronic items worth thousands of dollars. The store stocks the world's most desired phone, Apple's iPhone, as well as other smartphone brands.
In the Auckland raids, a staff member at one of the targeted stores was cut with a meat cleaver and another was Tasered. Police are hunting masked men who had made off with tens of thousands of dollars worth of Ipads, Ipods and laptops.
Tauranga police have released security footage of the Bayfair raid and Vodafone had electronically locked the stolen goods.
