The Armed Offenders Squad were called to Aongatete after reports of a person with a firearm.

A police spokeswoman said police responded to a family harm incident at a residential address in Aongatete near Katikati last night.

"AOS were deployed as a precaution as the caller reported the offender may have a firearm in their possession."

One person was arrested and no one was injured.
