Adults join children's show

Children's work will dominate, but it isn't the only thing on display at Welcome Bay school's art week exhibition and performance this week.

Principal Nik House and his wife Lisa, who is the school's sports co-ordinator, will be among the staff with work on display, along with Hairini tattooist and artist Iata Peautolu who will show a number of pieces.

Having taken the school choir last year, Liz Tamblyn was appointed the school's first art teacher at the start of this year.

"In the past teachers have done art with their own class, but this year I have been going into every class for dedicated art," she says.

The art exhibition was open last Thursday, there were also performances from the kapa haka group, dance crew, ukulele group and choir.

Entry for the evening performance was by gold coin donation with money going towards buying more ukuleles.
