70 soldiers to parade Tauranga streets

More than 70 soldiers and 30 NZ Army Band members will march from the Memorial Gates at Wharepai Domain to Tauranga City Council offices on Willow Street this Saturday.

The 6th Battalion City of Tauranga Charter Parade will begin from Wharepai Domain at 2pm and will go across Cameron Rd to McLean St and down Willow St to the council offices.

Following a reading of the Charter by the Town Clerk, the parade will march along Willow St, Spring St, Grey St, Elizabeth St then down Devonport Rd to the waterfront on The Strand.

NZ Army dignitaries, Mayor Stuart Crosby and councillors will attend the parade.

Road closures: Willow St from Harrington St to Wharf St will be closed between 2pm and 3pm. There will be rolling closures as the parade moves along its designated route.
