"During my set I try to create a certain vibe, to create a mood which makes me feel it's the right time to perform this song. The lyrics and the song are quite intense and needs the right mood, the right vibe for me to play it and the mood just didn't seem right that night."
Taane said he had a lot of songs in his repertoire.
"I play this song at certain times and not at others. Sometimes I can get so lost in the mood that I forget to play it and Friday was also one of those times. Like many other songs with explicit lyrics I won't play them unless there is the certain vibe.
"It's crazy how much attention this particular song has got."
He said despite his arrest and the controversy it won't stop him playing it.
Tauranga police Senior Sergeant Karl Purcell said there had been no reports of trouble at the club on Friday.
