Tickets to the Gala Dinner in Tribute to Sir Colin Meads are as popular as a loose ball at the breakdown.

Everyone wants in on the action, as all VIP tables have been sold out and the last of the premium tables are available.

"I think the reason for the great response is the respect that Sir Colin has within our community and throughout the country," says event promoter, Heath Ingham.

"There is the legendary rugby status and then there's the whole other side of him with his charity work and ambassadorships.

"He is a living legend and I think people want to share a special evening and thank him for what he's done and what he means to so many."

During the gala evening, guests will get the chance to rub shoulders with the rugby great as well as other legends of the game including Andrew Mehrtens, Sir Brian Lochore and Keith Quinn. Speakers will share memories, highlights and pay tribute to Pine Tree Meads at the black tie dinner.

Sir Colin Meads has contributed heavily to the Bay of Plenty community and the gala dinner will also be a chance to raise funds for some of his favourite charities with a charity auction taking place on the night.
