If you thought fashion's current obsession with safari was all khaki shirts and sand-coloured shorts, you'd be rather mistaken.
This summer, it's not just the typical garb of the tourist in a safari park that designers are addressing. Nope, it's the whole Serengeti.
Wild animal prints are taking care of the wildlife side
of the equation while the added presence of tribal patterns is making sure all three of the African-inspired fashion trends that pop up from time to time are all converging as wardobe inspiration at once.
So whether you feel like dressing a little on the wild side with animal print, keeping things structured with folded-up and buttoned-up safari or taking care of your playful side with some bright tribal prints, your choices during spring shopping are there to be made.
Back here, you'll find animal print has been taken care of by the girls behind Mt Maunganui label Bettie Monroe, and Ruby has taken a tame version of leopard print, and used it on a skirt, dress and summer coat.
In the way of tribal prints, you'll find plenty at Country Road - which now has an online store - as well as by Stolen Girlfriend's Club.
You'll need no help finding safari-inspired gear: even The Warehouse's latest collection is made up largely of military khaki, beige and sand pieces.
Combining them takes some skill - pick two - say safari and tribal - and wear them together to balance the bland with the bright.
When it comes to accessorising, you won't go wrong by pairing any of the three trends with a chunky heel, a bejewelled sandal or bold bangles.
