HYFR at ZEUS will be the first physical exhibition of work by the collective of artists on hyfrart.co.nz, a website launched in January 2016 that is devoted to providing a platform for contemporary visual artists and collectors.

The site offers a curated selection of work for sale by 16 emerging and established New Zealand artists. The exhibition will feature a diverse collection of new artworks that have yet to be showcased on the site.

Many of the artists engage in multi-disciplinary practices and the show will deliver a range of mediums including painting, photography, sculpture and drawing.

Online platforms for displaying art are becoming one of the artist's best selling tools, however being able to see artworks in the flesh is a inimitable experience.

It is the collective's first anniversary, and Zeus Gallery is bringing the artists involved and their audiences to the gallery to celebrate. It will also be a chance for the Tauranga audience to experience new work from outside the region, bringing a fresh perspective to the Bay.

Since studying at Wintec in Hamilton, sculptor Chelsea Pascoe has been the driving force behind developing the collective. Pascoe and her peers developed HYFR ART because they wanted the process of purchasing their artwork to be simple, transparent and convenient.

Pascoe looks forward to presenting a physical exhibition to be enjoyed by the public and artists alike.

Artists included in the exhibition are Sam Carpenter, Helen Dowling, James R, Danielle Foster, Clare, Phillip Good, Jenny Horrell, Craig, Priscilla McIntosh, Tara, Liam Te Nahu, Chelsea Pascoe and Tracey Stockley-Smith.

Their works cover a range of conceptual ideas including domestic and liminal spaces, people and places, and there will be mixture of small and large-scale works available.

The opening celebration will be held at Zeus Gallery, 35 Chapel St (access off Marsh St), tomorrow from 6pm till 8.30pm. Find out more about HYFR and the artists at www.hyfrart.co.nz.
