Anna Hawkins, 21, plays the lead role of Kim in the Tauranga Musical Theatre production of Miss Saigon, which opens on Saturday.
Q: What's your favourite piece in your wardrobe?
A: My favourite piece is a new purchase I haven't even had the chance to wear yet. It is a gorgeous,
blush pink dress, with patterned gold shot through it, from Spain. It has one strap with jewels embroidered on to it, that scoops around my torso. Then from the waist is a long full flowing skirt. It was a ''had to have'', I fell in love with it!
It picks up the light beautifully, and is one I will only bring out for extra special occasions. It will debut on the cover of my upcoming CD, which I will be photographed for in May.
Q: How many pairs of shoes do you have?
A:
I have three pairs of boots, including one pair that's been with me forever, it seems. A couple of pairs of jandals and flats, some dressy casual black shoes I love, my jazz dancing shoes, running trainers, a casual sneaker, and maybe three other low heels that don't get much wear. Then there's what I call my performance shoes, which includes a high strappy pair that goes with almost anything, black high heels and my favourite, for a bit of fun, a hot pink pair! So around 16 or so.

Q: What are your wardrobe basics?
A:
Straight dark blue denim jeans, black pants, funky t-shirts, colourful dress tops, and singlets for summer. I love cute print dresses that can cross over for summer and winter, and high-necked thermal tops I can layer over.
A big essential is scarves - I have a lot of them, and they protect my voice by keeping it warm. And a good pair of boots which can finish off most outfits.

Q: What do you wear to work?

A: One of the bonuses of being an entertainer is that I actually have to go out and buy beautiful dresses, as that is what I wear for work. I have eight gowns in my wardrobe, and three knee-length dresses I use to perform in. I will usually wear more comfortable, everyday clothes to rehearsals and sound checks; then go transform myself before wearing my performing dress, makeup, and high heels. If its a musical like Miss Saigon, then it's an outfit that reflects whatever character I am acting.
Q: What's your weekend ''uniform''?
A: If it's a relaxing weekend with not much on, it's usually casual pants, or shorts and a t-shirt. If it's a weekend I am performing, then its very dressed up in a gown.
Q: What's your oldest piece of clothing?
A: A blue velvet dress with a beautiful embroidered pattern on the front. I bought it for $100 at a little Asian shop when I was about 11, to sing in. I have kept it for memory's sake.
Q: What's the latest piece you've bought?
A: A pair of new boots for winter from Footloose, on sale. They are low-heeled, burgundy brown.
Q: What accessories do you use?
A: Apart from when I'm performing, I usually keep it simple when it comes to accessorising, wearing my silver cross necklace and small dangling earrings. When singing I wear sparkly items - earrings and bracelet, or just a necklace. I also sometimes dress my hair with coloured pins. Oh and like I said earlier, scarves!
Q: Which piece of clothing could you not do without?
A: My jeans, for everyday wear. They are so versatile.
Q: What's the most you've spent on an item of clothing?
A: Hehe, oh big secret! $1400 for ''the dress'' - the one from the first question.
