There's nothing like the energy of children in the pouring rain, all donned in Halloween getup, excitedly scurrying round a shopping centre getting free lollies to remind you that you are in fact an adult! Kids care not about the weather!

Last weekend more than 1000 people turned up in horrendous weather to participate in the Fraser Cove Trick or Treat Trail.

It's a really cool community event they do every year. Totally free to get led round the trail of retailers who all stand outside and give the kids treats as they file past in their freaky costumes.

There are bouncy castles, face painting, carnival rides, free endless popcorn from The Hits promo team and even a magician with a real live rabbit. I love rabbits.

What's not to like?

Even I dressed up. I went as Billy (the dead) Goat. Smeared my real ginger beard in fake blood and wore three pairs of undies in my goat onesie... I'm tall, it's a little less tall. You do the maths!

Apart from the clear joy and sugary goodness that the trick or treat trail provided and the opportunity to have some good yarns with some cool people, there was another unexpected highlight of the day for me.

Quite often at events the organiser will hand you the name and info of a lost child or a car that's left its lights on etc.

But this is the best one I can remember for a long time. A couple of the zebra crossings at Fraser Cove needed to be used for the groups going through the trick or treat trail. The problem?

A car has parked right across one of the zebra crossings! Who does that?

Hmmmmmm, where will I park, where will I park? No parks... Let's just not wait for one to come available, like a normal respectful human would... Let's stop right on a zebra crossing, get out and leave it there!

If that wasn't hilarious enough, guess what kind of car it was? A Porsche SUV! I could not have made a better guess if I tried! We know you have a Porsche.

Congrats on your awesome life choices to make you affluent enough to afford one. If you could just move it off the zebra crossing you parked it on, that would be tops! That's probably the closest it's been to 'off-road' in its life too!
