I'm a landscape designer and have a wardrobe crisis. I obviously need practical gear that I can muck in with, but I also need to look presentable for meeting clients. I also want to express my creativity through what I wear. I love all things vintage - clothing, jewellery. Do you have any suggestions?

Let's look at the client-facing side of things. I'm offering practical suggestions here, simply because even with a client, it's likely you'll be walking about their garden.

Consider a great pair of trousers that will wash and wear well but also be comfortable when you're moving about - moleskins, Ponti pants (stretch jersey knit fabric) or jeans (stretch ones).

Team your pants with a blazer - it would be great if you could introduce a vintage blazer. A blazer instantly smartens up your look.

Invest in a great pair of flat leather ankle boots - ones that once they're polished up will look as good as new. Or you may prefer funky, fun gumboots.

Merino knits come in amazing colours this season; lap them up. Pure wool is great because it's a natural fibre that will keep you toasty in winter yet breathe. Wool will keep you cool in the warmer months, and as long as you treat it well, will always look great and be your friend. You could also consider a merino singlet top, again for keeping you warm.

Use your vintage accessories to personalise your look and show your creativity.

A stylish raincoat - consider this piece plus your boots as investments: it's important to buy quality, something that will serve you well.

In summer, consider wearing a dress, something loose fitting, practical and comfortable. Vintage would work really well for this - I'm thinking gorgeous florals from the 1950s and 60s. An on-trend look is to wear dresses with ankle boots and a little sock showing. Pair with a coloured short cardigan if you need a little extra coverage.

Smart shorts would also work well for you in the warmer months.

These can be teamed with a blazer and ankle boots.

Introduce your vintage and creative looks as much as you can - it's important that your personality really shines through.
