Selena Gomez seems to be channelling Miley Cyrus in Behaving Badly.

Selena Gomez, apart from any association with Justin Bieber, has generally been one of Hollywood's clean-living young stars.

But like Miley Cyrus, she seems to be ramping up her image in this R16 movie.

Tagged as a teen comedy, there is an abundance of sexual material, not to mention drug use and alcohol consumption.

Unsuspecting viewers may be a little dismayed at the material.

Teenager Rick Stevens (Nat Wolff) is the central character and he has a crush on Nina Pennington (Selena Gomez).

But everything is getting in his way.

There's the drunken mother, the amorous neighbour, dangerous gangsters and his weird friends - it all adds up to trouble.

When he forms a friendship with Nina and embarks on a rock 'n' roll journey, nothing runs smoothly.

Everything Nick tries turns bad and eventually, even his extensive lying catches him out.

Nina has her own issues - dealing with her overbearing ex-boyfriend, Kevin, while trying to carry out her charity work and preparing for the priesthood.

If Nick wants to win Nina, he will need to try something new - honesty - and right all his wrongs.
