A man with special powers or a creepy serial killer?
You be the judge.
This is a question you never quite get the answer to until the last moments of a psychological thriller of some quality.
Eliot Deacon (Liam Neeson) is an undertaker who operates very quietly in his mansion in the countryside.
He
seems to be the typical caring, empathetic undertaker.
Anna Taylor (Christina Ricci) is a young women looking for answers in life.
Her boyfriend Paul (Justin Long) wants to make a life with her but she is scared to make a commitment.
She is a lost soul who doesn't realise what is good for her.
After an argument with Paul, an angry Anna is involved in a car accident and "wakes up" in Eliot's undertaking rooms.
Anna doesn't feel dead but Eliot tells her that she is between life and death and there is no return to life.
At first, she is convinced she is alive and being held against her wishes but there is no one to help her.
Although Paul is distraught at the accident, he senses something is wrong but can get no answers or satisfaction from anyone.
With her funeral fast approaching, Anna makers a final dash for freedom.
But is it all in her head?
Is she dead and just living out her final days as a ghost?
Is Eliot a very sick man doing ugly things to people?
These questions keep you hooked to the very end. Craig Nicholson
