Whenever Common Kings return to New Zealand they feel like they are home.

They have friends here, it's where they feel the love from the people and love the positive vibe so it's no surprise they are "ready to come home" this week as part of the line-up for One Love at the Tauranga Domain this weekend.

California-based Common Kings, made up of JR King, Rome, T Grey and Uncle Lui, are looking forward to once again being back in Tauranga, with JR and Uncle Lui both looking forward to catching up with their Kiwi muso mates and watching other performers from the crowd with other festival-goers.

With hits such as No Other Love, Wade in Your Water and Alcoholic, the reggae band has been a summer essential for many Kiwis for the past few years and with new music set to be revealed at One Love this weekend, they will no doubt continue to be played for summers to come.

When Common Kings do hit the stage this weekend they will perform not only their older music that everyone loves, they will also perform some new material that JR says will still have that Common Kings sound, just "a little dirtier".

They enjoy One Love and the vibe of the event and are excited to be a part of it again, looking out to the sea of people who are all enjoying themselves, with great energy.

"It's going to be an amazing time. We're going to be out in the crowd, come say hi," JR said.

They'll spend the full two days at One Love but hope to also check out the sites with JR hoping to make the Mauao climb while in town too.

Uncle Lui says when Common Kings first came out, a lot of people thought they were from New Zealand and they felt the love from Kiwis straight away, claiming them as our own.

That appreciation is reciprocated.

It's Tauranga and Auckland that resonate most with Common Kings as they are the places they most commonly visit, also having their favourite food spots in both cities too - a chicken spot in Otara and Bobby's Fresh Fish Market in Tauranga.

"We've been there quite a few tmes. We definitely feel like we're home every time we come back," JR said.

Reggae singer Spawnbreezie is another artist performing at One Love who feels like New Zealand is a second home and can't wait to feel the energy of the crowd, the love and the hospitality.

"The energy is overwhelming," Spawbreezie said.

Spawnbreezie, whose songs include Don't Let Go, Oh My Goodness and I'm in Love, says his set will be a short one so he will make sure to sing all the favourites.

"I'm going to give it my all."

He's performed in New Zealand, including at One Love, many times over the years and says he would come back any time.

"I feel like I'm a local now," he said.

"I really feel at home in South Auckland ... it's such a beautiful place."

Kiwi artists included in the One Love line-up include Tomorrow People and Sons of Zion and both bands are looking forward to everything One Love offered them.

Tomorrow People lead vocalist Marus Abraham said One Love felt like a festival that was held overseas because of the quality and quantity of international artists.

He said the festival attracted positive crowds who were there to enjoy the music and he couldn't wait to be part of it again this weekend.

Sons of Zion's Rio Panapa said coming home to the Bay of Plenty was always a highlight for him and getting to perform at One Love was a way he could not only do what he loved, it also allowed him to catch up with friends and family and take in the work of other musicians.

He was particularly keen to check out Canadian band Magic!, which sings Rude, when he performs as part of the One Love line-up this weekend because he had not yet seen them perform.

He encouraged people to head along, enjoy the music and bring the good vibes.
