Benjamin Morrison is the leading Kiwi violinist of his generation and regularly performs with the Vienna Philharmonic.
He's in the city this month, performing with the Bay of Plenty Symphonia who is presenting a concert of classics, showcasing the development of music from Renaissance through to Contemporary. Time Travels will
be an exploration of music over four centuries, with a varied programme of eight shorter pieces, performed in chronological order of composition.
Morrison will be playing a Vivaldi concerto and the virtuoso Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso by Saint Saens.
These major works will be a treat to hear with Benjamin's masterful violin expertise, according to BOP Symphonia marketing manager Laura Thomson-Bache. Steffan Sinclair is the guest conductor, and "with overtures from Monteverdi and Beethoven, a Mozart symphony, Bach's Suite No 3, and beautiful pieces from 20th century composers Shostakovich and Paert, this delightful programme will be a glimpse into musical history, with pieces that have truly stood the test of time."
