Here's a quick trick that's inexpensive, fun, and can be adapted to suit a variety of sizes and settings.
Make yourself a piece of succulent artwork to provide an all-weather centrepiece for your outdoor table, a decorative deck decoration or even a piece of wall art.
Succulents are incredibly easy to work
with - they're forgiving, co-operative, and if you accidentally kill one, they'll quickly make a replacement.
If you're doing this in a container, choose a shallow one, add some gritty, sandy soil, and create a design using groups of similar colours and textures.
A flat design is ideal for tabletops so you're not blocking anyone's view.
But if you're making a piece for a deck or a porch, you can experiment with some taller plants at the back, or run a curved line of tall plants through the middle.
If you have gaps, add coloured pebbles or stones, pieces of driftwood or tumbled glass.
