Prospective buyers are showing keen interest in a large development site in Cameron Rd now up for mortgagee sale.

Simon Clark, Colliers International's Tauranga director, said more than 20 inquiries had been received in the first two weeks of the sales campaign. Tenders for the 6438sq m site, shown above,
between 18th and 19th avenues on Cameron Rd and opposite Tauranga Hospital, close on March 22.

The land, which was cleared of state houses, was earmarked for a medical precinct housing specialists and consulting rooms, but after nearly a decade of planning the MedPark development never took off.

Mr Clark said the inquiries represented a range of uses including childcare and aged care. The residential-zoned land is in nine freehold titles; two are further split into four cross-leases, and any new use would require a resource consent.

He said the sale was for the whole or portions of the vacant land, though the entire property must sell.

Mr Clark said the opportunity was finally here for an astute developer or owner-occupier to really make a mark on this significant piece of land.
