Mount Maunganui holiday park owners Greg Davidson and Vicki Pike say they are rapt to have been named as one of the finalists in this year's AA Spirit of Hospitality Award.
The couple run the Cosy Corner Holiday Park on Oceanbeach Road and are one of three Bay of Plentyholiday parks among the seven finalists.
Mr Davidson said he had entered the competition in previous years, but had not got round to sending in the application form this year.
"Next minute we get a letter saying we're a finalist, so someone has nominated us which is good; as well I think [the judges] look at your review on the AA which is 10 out of 10."
Mr Davidson's family has owned The Cosy Corner for 45 years and the personal feel of the park was one of its strengths, he said.
"It's good to get some recognition from someone, somewhere."
Holiday Parks Association chief executive Fergus Brown said the AA award was the supreme award for the holiday park sector. "To be named as a finalist is important recognition of a holiday park's commitment to providing quality service."
The other two Bay of Plenty parks named as finalists were All Seasons Holiday Park in Rotorua and Bowentown Beach Holiday Park. The winner will be announced at the Holiday Parks Conference and Trade Exhibition on July 4.
