One of the country's top private schools has expelled six students for cannabis use.
King's College last week dismissed six boys aged 15 to 17 for bringing the drug on to the school grounds in Otahuhu.
Headmaster John Taylor said the fifth and seventh form students were sent home when the school received information about the "buying, selling and smoking of marijuana" on the campus.
"We trust to send a strong message to students and parents that such behaviour will not be tolerated in the King's environment."
Counties Manukau police were involved in an investigation into marijuana use by the students before the expulsions.
It is not know if any charges have been laid.
Kings College expelled a student for marijuana use about four years ago. Mr Taylor said more than six students were expelled at once from the school more than ten years ago.
