NZ Herald Online – We’re One!

We at the Herald Online are taking a few minutes away from the keyboards to celebrate today.

It's our first birthday, and we've got a lot to be happy about, plus a lot to look forward to.

Thanks to your support, the Herald Online has grown rapidly over the past year, enabling us to bring you deeper and broader news coverage. Within months of our launch we were honoured to be recognised as "Site of the Year" by Netguide magazine.

Of course, we are privileged to have the reporters and editors of New Zealand's leading newspaper behind us.

What's more, we are now introducing breaking news throughout the day. Not only will you get New Zealand's best news coverage, you'll get the news first from the Herald Online.

We know that Kiwis overseas relish the opportunity to read the Herald, catching up on news from home no matter where they might be. Who would have thought, just a few years back, that a newspaper could go around the world in a matter of a few seconds?

You may have noticed the continuously updated traffic and weather reports we added to the site last week. In our second year we look forward to bringing you even more services – some of which probably haven't been invented yet. Internet technology moves extremely fast, and we aim to move with it.

And finally, it's important to note that the Herald Online is more than news reports – it is truly interactive. Every day we welcome your comments in dozens of online "forums." You also voice your opinion in our daily polls.
