Petrol and diesel prices at BP service stations have been pushed up again this afternoon.
The 3-cent increase takes prices at most BP service stations to $1.19 for Premium Unleaded, and 77.5 cents for diesel - 20 per cent more than just 5 months ago.
The average price of petrol at the pumps then was under one dollar.
BP is blaming the latest rise on the costs of refined petrol and the weak NZ dollar.
However, that is not an explanation likely to appease Deputy Prime Minster Jim Anderton, who has been highly suspicious of this year's increases.
Shell, Caltex and Mobil have not yet announced if they will follow BP's lead.
