The Warehouse Group is expected to announce plans within the next few weeks to expand into Australia.
As revealed by the Business Herald in March, it is understood the company is well down the track in cementing a deal with Australian discount retailer Clint's Crazy Bargains.
The Sydney-based company has more than 80 stores in Queensland, Victoria, ACT and New South Wales.
It is owned by a private company, Volandu, which announced last week it had bought another discount retailer, Silly Solly's. Solly's has more than 30 stores throughout Queensland.
The price was not disclosed, although the two chains are believed to have a combined turnover of $A450 million ($560 million).
They have a long-standing relationship with The Warehouse Group and have shared overseas buying contacts for several years.
The Warehouse managing director Stephen Tindall declined to comment yesterday.
