A UK prankster who says he was just looking for a bit of mischief has highlighted just how vulnerable the US government is in terms of cyber security.
The man, who posts on Twitter under the handle @SINON_REBORN, describes himself as a "lazy anarchist".
He tricked the man in charge of cyber security at the White House into thinking he was responding to an email from Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in-law.
"Tom, we are arranging a bit of a soirée towards the end of August," he wrote to Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert. "It would be great if you could make it, I promise food of at least comparible (sic) quality to that which we ate in Iraq. Should be a great evening."
"Thanks, Jared. With a promise like that, I can't refuse. Also, if you ever need it, my personal email is [redacted]", the cyber security expert replied.
