It's expected more light will be shed on what caused the tragic death of a baby boy in southern New South Wales when police receive the results of an autopsy.
The 2-month-old died in hospital after he was found "seriously unwell" at his home in Kooringal near Wagga Wagga on Monday morning.
A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene and later released pending further inquiries.
The death was being treated with a "degree of suspicion", but police said they would wait for the results of a post-mortem examination before determining if the infant's death was because of illness or injury.
The results, due today, will decide if the case is handled by local or homicide detectives, a NSW Police spokeswoman said.
