A New South Wales couple discovered a new born baby on their doorstep on Sunday night with a note from the 14-year-old mother saying "my parents will kill me".
According to the Daily Mail, Anabella and Rodel Acuna found the baby boy in a bassinet on the doorstep of their house in Griffith after someone rang the doorbell at 11.40pm.
Mr Acuna described the baby as "a little chubby" but "very cute".
He said a note was left with the baby saying: "Please take care of my baby he is very wonderful baby I cannot take care of my baby because I am only 14 years old and my parents will kill me [sic]."
Mr Acuna called the police immediately. He believes his house may have been picked because it was the only house in the street with lights on.
Police are searching for the mother and have concerns for her safety.
Superintendent Rowan from Griffith Local Area Command said the mother is not in trouble but they would like to get to the bottom of what happened.
Superintendent Rowan said police don't believe the baby was born at a local hospital.
"We've made some inquiries with not only Griffith and other local hospitals, and it would appear that the baby hasn't been born in one of the local hospitals."
