Wet and windy weather brought down trees overnight and saw the city get about three-quarters of the month's total rainfall in just 24 hours.
A spokeswoman for Rotorua Lakes Council's after-hours service said there were trees down in Glenholme and McKenzie Rd in Owhata.
There were also calls about a broken tree branch hanging over the road in Taharangi St, a tree down and blocking Tarawera Rd this morning just past Long Mile Rd and three trees down in Kuirau Park.
Rotorua Fire Brigade senior station officer Richard Anastasi said firefighters had received a couple of calls from Springfield and Kawaha Point residents about branches which had broken off tree trunks and were blocking areas such as driveways.
He said the incidents were fairly minor and firefighters managed to clear them quickly.
