Southern Rangitikei Vets in Bulls were open last Saturday to the public to raise funds for Greyhounds as Pets and Pug Rescue.
Business manager David Geary said it was an unusual move and the practice hadn't had an open day for many years.
The staff went all out to make the day a winner, he said.
"The women baked cakes for a cake stall, there were also various other food stalls, Mr Whippy, a coffee van, pet lambs and cows. There were animals everywhere the staff all bought their pets. It was a huge success and the weather was perfection."
At 10am the doors opened and the 15 vets, 7 vet nurses and all the administration staff were on board for the meet and greet, he said.
