Upset at being denied the care services he wanted John Forbes West threatened to blow up Whanganui Hospital and said he would "sort out" a female doctor.
West was charged with threatening harm to people/property, and he pleaded guilty in Whanganui District Court last week, arriving in a wheelchair.
The incident happened on February 14, and came after years of West's frustration over being denied further services. After he threatened to "take things into his own hands" the hospital rang Whanganui Police.
Police Prosecutor Stephen Butler said the hospital had an emergency plan to shut the hospital down.
It wasn't needed because police met with West, who explained he had only wanted to blow the hospital up "verbally".
