Rob Webb and his bugle were at their post bright and early yesterday to knock off number 50.
Mr Webb sounded The Last Post at the Anzac Day dawn parade in his home town of Taihape for the 50th successive year.
"It was a clear morning and a good turnout ... and, hopefully, I'll be there again next year," said Mr Webb, a fireman for 40 years, a community board member, school trustee and former army serviceman.
He started playing The Last Post at 14 years of age - and he's never stopped.
Though he moved to Kerikeri for work two years ago, there's been no question that he would not be back for April 25.
