It was parades and cakes for Koitiata, the little village at Turakina Beach, when it raised its flag on Saturday to celebrate 100 years at the seaside.
Starting in the morning, 20 floats and vintage cars paraded through the town, said organiser Trevor Turgens.
"It was extremely well supported, not just by the community but outside interested people came with restored vehicles, tractors that kind of thing."
Keeping in line with the spirit of the seaside town, many of the floats were shaped like boats and decked out with fishing nets.
"So many of them were innovative and related to the sea and fishing in this area" Mr Turgens said.
