A man went on a joy ride knowing the vehicle was stolen.
Boston Baker pleaded guilty in Whanganui District Court on Tuesday on a charge of unlawfully getting into a motor vehicle.
Police prosecutor Stephen Butler told the court on the early hours of December 15 a car was stolen from Koromiko Road.
Later in the day Baker was visited by a friend with the stolen car and the two decided to go for a ride. They took off at speed but lost control of the vehicle, crashing into the side of the road.
According to police Baker knew the car was stolen before he got in.
