Author Katherine Dewar held the New Zealand launch of her debut novel at Gonville Library on August 13.
Ms Dewar, who is based in Auckland, held a Q&A session with local writer Nicola Patrick in which she discussed the writing life and her novel, Ruby and the Blue Sky.
The event was organised by the Women's Network Whanganui as part of the Winter Wonderfest. More than 30 people attended the talk.
Ms Dewar described Ruby and the Blue Sky as "a political thriller".
"A key idea in [the book] is how we can act together, in our communities, to create change."
