Two people were rushed to hospital on Wednesday night following a motorcycle crash in Whanganui East.

Whanganui Fire senior station officer Jemal Weston said two people had been on the bike when it crashed in Jellicoe St.

The patients were taken to hospital in status one condition.

Patient conditions can range from zero to five, with zero meaning dead.

A police spokeswoman said on Thursday one of the patients was now status three in Whanganui Hospital, while the other patient, still status one, was transferred to Wellington.

The circumstances of the crash are not yet known.
