Work will start on Monday to rebuild Archer's Bridge, spanning the Kai Iwi stream at Mowhanau Beach.
The bridge was destroyed in the June floods but should be back in action in the new year.
It had been built at a cost of $115,000 to replace the original bridge which was washed away in the floods of July 2006.
Wanganui District Council deputy property manager Leighton Toy said Emmetts Civil Construction of Wanganui had been awarded the contract to dismantle the existing structure and rebuild the bridge.
Mr Toy said the access track from the parking area to the beach will be closed while the rebuild takes place.
