FLOOD-affected Wanganui rural folk are being urged to down tools and attend shed meetings designed to lighten the load.
Hosted by the Rural Support Trust, the post-flood meetings are purely social events to allow rural people affected by last month's event to put their troubles behind them, even if for just a short time.
Agricultural recovery consultant Brian Doughty said no formal speakers had been arranged, although several professionals would be available for those seeking advice.
"It's more about getting rural folk off their diggers and off their farms for a short time to lighten the load. There will be people to talk to for advice if that's what's needed, although we are hoping those affected by the flood can just turn up with the kids for a few nibbles and a couple of refreshments and just shoot the breeze," Mr Doughty said.
The Rural Support Trust, backed by a number of sponsors, has arranged two venues over two days next week to host the social outings.
