A woman alleged to have made a false rape claim is said to have told police she was kidnapped, drugged and violated by her ex-partner.
Tracy Michelle Carston is charged with making a false statement to a police employee, "alleging that an offence of sexual violation, kidnapping and stupefying had been committed".
The charge, which carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison, arose after Carston moved from New Plymouth to Wanganui to start a new life after her relationship with the alleged victim ended.
Two of her adult children lived in Wanganui and had not approved of the partner, so she was trying to reconnect with them, police said.
In late March last year, Carston's children were expecting to see her, but were unable to get hold of her for two days, the police summary of facts said.
