Major Glen Whitton swapped his army uniform for a playing strip yesterday at the Masters Games.
Palmerston North-based Whitton is a medic with the New Zealand Army, but yesterday he was in action at Jubilee Stadium for the indoor volleyball tournament.
These are Whitton's fourth games - he's a member of the Black Out team, made up of players from Palmerston North, Wellington and Auckland.
Although he plays at the games for the fun of it, he's also fiercely competitive, particularly when it comes to beating a certain opposition.
"We've never managed to beat the Jurassics. We'd love to beat them and take the gold," Whitton said.
