Police won't be making any apologies for handing out fines over the holiday period.
As Christmas and New Year's approached, police would need to be more visible on the roads, in public, and on the streets, Whanganui police Senior Sergeant Andrew McDonald said.
He wanted to remind people of the speed limit, alcohol bans, and the lowered alcohol limit for driving.
Around Christmas there were more fights, more assaults, and more disorderly behaviour incidents, he said.
"Don't be surprised if you're handed a $250 fine."
