Wanganui welcomed 30 new citizens on Wednesday when mayor Annette Main presented them with citizenship certificates.
Citizenship ceremonies are held by councils to provide opportunity for local communities to welcome the new citizens on behalf of all New Zealanders.
New citizens stand before the mayor as the official representative and take the oath of allegience to honour Queen Elizabeth and obey the laws of New Zealand.
Ms Main congratulated the new citizens on their decision to make New Zealand, and Wanganui, their home and presented them with gifts to commemorate the occasion.
The ceremony was followed by afternoon tea.
