Children who take along their bikes, wear helmets and dress up will get in to the event free of charge.
For those not competing, there is a family charge of $20, or $10 for each adult.
On Sunday the Family Bike Ride will leave the iSite Information Centre on Moutoa Quay at 10am and return by 11.30am.
To ensure cyclists' safety, the Whanganui police will be on patrol around the cycle route.
Mayor Annette Main will lead the cyclists out and back to Moutoa Quay, where all who have joined the ride will get to enjoy a free sausage sizzle.
Mr Gruebsch said the Wanganui District Council had donated 250 sausages for the family bike riders.
On February 12 the Go By Bike Breakfast will be served at Majestic Square from 7am-9am.
WBUG invite locals to cycle to school or work and stop in at Majestic Square to enjoy a light breakfast with other cyclists.
At the three events there will be spot prizes.
