Rider Craig Trinder suffered a broken thigh bone when he came off his bike at yesterday's Cemetery Circuit races.

The 23-year-old Aussie racer, who was taken to Wanganui Hospital, was the worst of the casualties on a fairly quiet day for St John ambulance staff.

Three other riders were treated - concussion, dislocated shoulder and broken collarbone - along with 11 members of the public, who suffered minor ailments. The good weather was enjoyed by a large crowd, the action culminating in the Robert Holden memorial race which had to be re-started after a pile-up on the first bend.

Hamilton ace Nick Cole eventually won that race - and the Superbike series.
