After two terms on Horizons Regional Council, Bob Walker is stepping down.
The maverick councillor, one of two Wanganui representatives on the council, said yesterday it was time for him to step away.
He had no regrets with the six years he served on Horizons and he said his decision was made easier knowing he had someone who was more than capable of replacing him.
Mr Walker said the name of that candidate and others for the upcoming local body elections would be released early next month.
"I'm picking there will be a few in the Palmerston North cartel [on council] who will be glad to see me go and the end to frequent annoying media releases I send out," he said.
