Wet weather in early summer has seen the Wanganui District Council carry out just under $1 million in emergency repair work.
Councillor Ray Stevens, chairman of the council's infrastructure and property committee, said very wet weather in December and January brought down many small slips in the district.
About $550,000 was spent on immediate response work and a further $400,000 is still required for tidy up work, including an underslip on Ikitara Rd, Wanganui East.
Mr Stevens said the good news was that ratepayers would fork out for only 25 per cent of the cost.
"Because this is emergency work, it attracts a New Zealand Transport Agency subsidy of 75 per cent," he said.
