After hours on hold listening to a genre of music which in no way calmed me down, and many days of attempting to speak to somebody I decided to make a call to the company's head office.
This resulted in the person on the other end of the phone putting me through to wait yet again.
I rang back to be told I could send an email. Keep in mind here that our issue was an internet one.
Duh.
When 40 minutes waiting for someone to answer had passed, it was time for action.
Ringing back, I warned that my next port of call was the chief executive if there was no joy.
I don't think she believed me.
More than 20 hours of my valuable time spent on the telephone was enough wasted time.
Flicking an email to the CEO of the company, shock horror, within 15 minutes the phone was ringing: a resolutions officer on the other end apologising and promising better in the future.
If I'd known earlier we could have avoided negative time hanging on to the phone for so long.
So while I've learned the grass isn't any greener, I also learned if it is important enough then go to the top.
Maybe we could have had such a resolution from our previous telecommunications provider had I done so with them. It left me thinking "better the devil you know than the one you don't".
