However, today a front moving north from the South Island was expected to stall on the central North Island.
"This means Hawke's Bay will see some rain and cloud but people probably won't actually see anything until the afternoon."
Overnight last night was the coolest temperature for the week with a low of 1C but as the southerly hits the Bay overnight temperatures will rise.
"That sounds funny as during the day it is a lot cooler but because of the cloud around at night it doesn't get so cold like when it is a clear night."
Ms Clark said there should be a high of 16C today before temperatures drop to a high of 12C tomorrow, 10C on Thursday and 12C on Friday.
Overnight temperatures would sit around 6C and 7C through to Saturday before going back down to 3C on Sunday.
