Maungakaramea Sale:
A good little sale of 90 cattle plus that sold well. 2-year cross bred and Whiteface steers made $850 to $1060. 18-month Angus and Shorthorn cross steers made $750 to $773. Empty Ayrshire cows made $645 to $910. Good rising 2-year Angus Heifers made $1030 to $1260 and Angus heifers sold for $800 to $830. Weaner heifers, Angus and Whiteface cross made $545 to $640.
Sheep:
Good lambs made $95 and good store lambs made $65. Mixed age ewes sold from $75 to $100.
Wellsford Sale:
Wellsford had a light yarding on Monday 19th but most of the cattle were still selling well. Bulls were strong but yearlings eased a little.
Good rising 2-year cattle made $1250 to $1500 (2.62c-2.76c), then down to $880 to $980 (2.79c-2.81c). 18-month steers sold for $800 to $882 (2.91c-3.41c). Light steers sold for $600 to $770 (2.91c-4.14c). Good 20-month heifers made $1040 to $1430 (2.69c-2.81c) with medium heifers $850 to $780 (and light heifers $692 to $550 (2.61c-3.32c).
Tuesday:
At Wellsford was quoted as a ripper of a day prime cattle, cull cows and very buoyant for sheep especially prime lambs. Heavy prime ox sold for $1945 to $2034 (2.86c-2.91c) then $1461 to $1677 (2.82c-2.91c).
Heavy bulls made $1118 to $1380 (2.60c-2.63c). Prime heifers made $1223 to $1762 (2.75c-2.91c). Heavy prime cows made $1115 to $1397 (1.91.2.18c) then $904 to $989 (2.01c-2.03c) with medium cows $633 to $770 (1.69c-1.89c).
Sheep:
Heavy prime lambs sold for $110 to $128 to $134 then $101 to $109 down to $96 to $101. Good store lambs made $90 to $94.50 then $80 to $88 down to $50 to $76. Good mixed age ewes fetched $102 to $114 down to $74 to $96.

Kaikohe Sale:
With a light entry of about 400 cattle at Kaikohe on Wednesday 21st the market was much the same but with the rise in schedules manufacturing cows were stronger which helped to lift the whole offering just a little.
Heavy steers sold to $1185 (2.79c) and $1250 (2.79c) 20-month Angus Hereford Friesian made $930 to $1020 (2.85c-2.92c) to $1140 (2.73c). Heavy 30-month bulls sold for $1760 (4.43c) for beef cross and Hereford Simmental cross.
Good 15-month autumn bulls Hereford cross sold for $790 to $930 (2.85c-3.00c). 1-year Angus/Hereford bulls sold for $750 to $800 (3.20c-3.50c) then $640 to $680 (2.90c-5.10c). 1-year steers $930 to $980 to (2.35c-2.40c) for Angus Simmental, then $825 to $850 down to $700 to $730.
30-month Hereford and Angus cross heifers made $980 to $1050 (2.60c-2.70c) then $920 to $1025 (2.40c-2.70c). Light 1-year Hereford, Shorthorn and Murray Grey cross heifers made $490 to $560 (2.85c-3.09c).
Cows and Calves fetched $1200 (3.91c). VIC Friesian cross cows made $900 to $1000 (1.90c-1.98c) then $800 to $870 (1.70c-1.80c).
