The seemingly endless blasts of wind across Hawke's Bay, some gale force, had created only a few minor problems for winegrowers over the past few weeks.
On the whole the often wild winds had not affected what Hawke's Bay Winegrowers Association chairman Michael Henley described as a vintage which was "tracking along nicely".
It came down to accepting that the region would get often wild and warm winds at this time of the summer and preparing for it.
"The wind is nothing new to Hawke's Bay and the vines are pretty well secured within the trellising," Mr Henley said.
"No real problems at this stage.
