Hastings District Council's sprinkler ban has been met with some community disgruntlement that restrictions are being imposed on residents while water bottling companies can continue to extract aquifer water for commercial purposes.
At a press conference held yesterday to update media on the water supply situation, Mr Yule said he understood that people were a "bit cynical".
"The results show though that most people get it, as can be seen by the fact there's been a reduction in demand," he said.
Issues such as water bottling and the young, contamination-prone water that was discovered by GNS Science in preparing its five-yearly report for the council were ones to be considered next year, Mr Yule added.
"That will come under the work being done by TANK and the Hawke's Bay Regional Council.
